After much delay, roads to be repaired
Ludhiana: After much delay, civic officials have started a hotmix plant to kickstart patchwork on roads from Tuesday. Due to shortage of material, city officials could not start the patchwork in the month of October, and now the process will drag on till November and mid December, depending upon the temperature. Initially, patchwork will be done at main roads of the city and then it would reach inner streets.
Mayor Balkar Sandhu, who started the plant on Tuesday, claimed that they have arranged the material and now main roads will be covered on priority. He claimed that at some locations, they had filled the potholes with the help of interlocking tiles and now major roads will be covered to fix potholes.
Meanwhile, this move may lead to another tussle among councillors and ruling party MLAs as AAP MLA Madan Lal Bagga had recently claimed to start the patch work in a couple of days. On Monday, AAP MLA Gupreet Gogi too had claimed to arrange the material for patch work. However, mayor Sandhu made the most of the occasion and started hotmix plant before the MLAs. TNN
