JAIPUR: A 30-year-old died after he drowned in Galta Kund in Jaipur on Tuesday morning. Galta Gate police station SHO Mukesh Khadriya said that the deceased remains unidentified. The sources said that a devotee on Tuesday morning had seen a body floating in the pond and alerted the control room about the incident.
A team of civil defence was summoned to the scene to fish out the body. The teams used rope and other equipment to fish out the deceased. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced brought dead by doctors.
The officials said that a lot of devotees had been visiting the pond for the past three days and it is likely that the man had gone there and died of drowning.
Police did not find any documents on the deceased to identify him. The Galta Gate police, however, said that they have shared the deceased’s photos on social media so that he could be identified.
The Jaipur police said that they are also examining the CCTVs of nearby areas to see if they could find footage of the deceased. Police also said that a post-mortem would be held once the deceased is identified and his family comes to claim the body.
