HYDERABAD: On the last day of the campaign for the Munugode by-election on Tuesday, the
BJP filed another complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that the TRS government was tapping its leaders' phones.
Accusing the state government of indulging in malpractices, BJP Telangana affairs incharge Tarun Chugh demanded an investigation into the matter, claiming that phones of those working in the Munugode constituency were being tapped which, he said, was a serious offence.
Chugh claimed that party candidate Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy had been a target of baseless charges and alleged that TRS had orchestrated a fake drama of transfer of funds from his accounts into voters' accounts.
"TRS leaders are openly saying that they are looking into banking transactions of some persons and businesses, which demonstrates that TRS has committed illegal acts. TRS is also engaged in a false propaganda by providing some fictitious transactions, the credibility and genuineness of them is in question" he said.
Chugh alleged the TRS was directly transferring funds to voters via a number of mobile money transfer apps. "It is pertinent to note here that a similar mode of operation was adopted by the TRS in previous elections as well as during the recently held MLC elections," he said in the complaint.
Referring to the press conference of TNGOs' leaders, Chugh said that employees taking part in TRS campaign was a violation of the model code.
BJP Mahila Morcha leaders filed a complaint with the Telangana State Women's Commission, alleging that TRS leaders harassed them during the campaign. BJP Mahila Morcha leader Syamala Devi complained that TRS leaders abused them and also commented on their dress during the campaign.
