Yavatmal: The local crime branch sleuths nabbed two historysheeters from Dongargaon village of Pusad tehsil in the district on Monday night and seized a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from them.
The accused duo, identified as Syed Musveer Syed Jameel (29) and Mazhar Khan Jafarullah Khan (30), both residents of Dongargaon, has been booked under sections 3/25 and 35 of the Arms Act..
According to sources, superintendent of police Pavan Bansod received a tip off that two history sheeters Syed Musveer and Mazhar Khan had fired bullets in air at a function a few days ago. Accordingly, the SP directed LCB chief Pradeep Pardeshi to nab the culprits.
Pardeshi’s team took Mazhar Khan into custody from Pusad. Based on information revealed by Khan, the LCB team picked up Musveer from his house in Dongargaon. During search of the house, the police found a country made pistol and two live cartridges.
The estimated cost of the seized weapon is Rs21,000. The accused were handed over to Pophali police and further investigation is being carried out by PSO Hake.
Constable Pankaj Paturkar played a key role in nabbing the accused duo, who was patted by the SP.
