Vadodara: Former Panchmahal MP Prabhatsinh Chauhan joined the Congress on Tuesday. Solanki did so at Fagwel from where the Parivartan Sankalp Yatra of the Congress kicked off.
Chauhan who was elected as an MP on a
BJP ticket in 2009 and 2014 was denied a ticket in 2019. He had threatened to contest as an independent, but did not do so eventually. Before being elected as an MP, he was an MLA from the Kalol assembly constituency from the BJP and was also made a minister of state.
Speaking to media persons, he said that he had seen the BJP rule from close and his soul was hurt. He said that he would ensure a victory of the Congress in the polls. He said he would contest the polls from Kalol or Godhra if asked to do so by the Congress.
Chauhan’s partner Rangeshwari Chauhan is a BJP member and president of Ghoghamba taluka panchayat while his daughter-in-law Suman Chauhan is an MLA from Kalol.
