The daily number of passengers per bus has gone over 1,000 in Mumbai, with an average 58 commuters per trip daily. BEST ridership has been growing fast in recent months and is now more than 35 lakh. With the commuter burden on existing 3,600+ buses, there is an urgent need to expand the fleet.
