MORBI: Rajesh Sanura, a father who lost his 19-yearold son in the span bridge tragedy on Sunday along with three of his close friends, met Prime Minister
Narendra Modi during the latter’s visit to Morbi on Tuesday.
The 43-year-old driver said that his son Sandeep had gone up the ill-fated bridge along with his three friends and all of them became victims in the massive tragedy.
Rajesh, who drives cars of his regular customers, went to drop his son near the bridge before he proceeded on a trip to Ravapar.
He later got a call from his brother that the bridge collapsed.
“I immediately called up my son, but after two rings his phone turned silent. It was switched off. I then tried his friends’ numbers, but could not contact anybody,” said Sanura.
He added, “I rushed to the suspension bridge but there was utter chaos. Unable to figure out what washappening there, I went to the hospital. However, I could not find anyone there who would answer my queries,” said Sanura, addingthat finally at midnight he could identify the body of his child.
Consoling Sanura during his meeting at the superintendent of police’s office, the prime minister told him that legal action will be taken against the people responsible for the tragedy. “Prime Minister saheb’s words eased my pain,” the inconsolable father added.
