
Mumbai news live updates, November 2, 2022:Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who also holds the home portfolio, requested the government to withdraw the traffic clearance vehicle provided to her as part of her security detail. Her request came after The Indian Express reported that the State Intelligence Department, which reports to the Maharashtra Home Department, recently allotted a ‘traffic clearance vehicle’ along with a security upgrade from X to Y+ with escort to Amruta Fadnavis.
Former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar was questioned by the police for two-and-a-half hours on Tuesday regarding a complaint accusing her of illegally occupying six flats in a Worli SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) project and forging signatures of a true beneficiary of the scheme.
This is the second time Pednekar has been questioned over the issue. She was earlier quizzed for 15 minutes by the Dadar Police on Friday.
The SRA also issued a show cause notice to Pednekar, her brother, her son, and three allottees of the SRA apartments in Gomata housing colony, asking for an explanation by November 9, according to Kirit Somaiya, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and complainant in the case, who issued a public statement in the matter on Tuesday morning.

A level 2 fire was reported at Chhabildas CBSE School, Dadar (west) on Wednesday morning at 5:20 am. The fire had originated in the second-floor kitchen and during the incident, portions of the roof had also collapsed. A total of 3 persons were reported, who were later transferred to Sion hospital.
The fire was extinguished by members of the school authority and the common public using fire extinguishers, before the arrival of the Brigade.
Charkop police officials stated that 'the incident took place in the multi-storey building in the Charkop area on October 21 when the woman was going down from the fourth floor for the morning walk. After she entered the elevator, it got stuck between the fourth and third floors. The woman shouted for help and when her son tried to open the elevator door, he got an electric shock and switched off the power supply.
Afterwards, the officers also stated that 'when a security guard of the building tried to open the door of the elevator, it moved down at a high speed and collapsed on the ground floor. The woman received serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
The Charkop police later registered an Accidental Death Report, the official added. (PTI)
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Tuesday that it was scrapping the Rs 5,800-crore tender that it had floated on August 2 for completing cement concretisation of 400 km of Mumbai’s roads to make the city free of potholes.
P Velrasu, additional municipal commissioner (Projects), said that a fresh tender for concretising the roads will be floated again in three weeks. Pratip Acharya reported
