Two Maoist commanders shot in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Security personnel gunned down two commander-rank Maoists in an encounter in a jungle in Kanker district of Bastar at dawn on Monday. Each of them carried a bounty of Rs 8 lakh.
Police identified them as ‘divisional commander’ and Pratapur Area Committee secretary Darshan Padda and North Bureau ‘action team commander’ Jagesh Salam. A large quantity of explosives and weapons were seized after the gunfight — a .315 bore rifle, an 8mm pistol, ammo for both weapons, a walkie-talkie set, four PLGA uniforms and Rs 57,770 in cash.
