KANPUR: A sub-inspector posted at Sadar Kotwali in Etawah district has been booked for rape, grabbing money and assault. The incident allegedly happened two and a half months ago while the SI has been reported to be absconding.
On Monday, a case was registered against the accused in the Civil Lines police station after the intervention of the Women’s Commission.
The rape survivor said that she had a case registered in the Sadar Kotwali. Later, she met SI Shrikrishna Rajput, a native of Atrauli, Aligarh in this regard. She alleged that the inspector took Rs 90,000 from her in the name of lobbying. Gradually, he developed relations and sexually abused her over the pretext of marriage.
Later, when he did not lobby her case, she asked him to return the money. On this he assaulted her and also snatched her two mobile phones and threatened to kill her.
For about two and a half months, she was making rounds of the Kotwali police to get a case registered against the accused, but in vain. Thereafter, she lodged a complaint with the Women’s Commission. Subsequently, her FIR was registered.
SSP Etawah Jaiprakash Singh said, “A case has been lodged against the SI on the complaint of the woman. The matter is being investigated. Strict action will be taken against the guilty.”
