Goa: Two Vasco houses gutted in fire, loss pegged at Rs 5 lakh

VASCO: Two houses located in the densely populated areas of Driver Hill in Vasco were gutted in a blaze on Monday evening. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Talathis Anuraj Gawas and Hanumant Mandrekar, attached to the office of the Mormugao mamlatdar, stated that the fire broke out at around 6pm in a house belonged to siblings Achut and Sanjay Naik, and later spread to the neighbouring house owned by Alfred Azavedo. “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the cause of the fire could be due to a short circuit,” said Gawas. He said that the total loss incurred by the house owners is estimated over Rs 5 lakh.
