Man gets 12-year jail for sodomy
Kanpur: Special judge Pocso Act court Kanpur Nagar Pervez Ahmad on Monday sentenced Sonu Yadav to 12 years rigorous imprisonment and with a fine of Rs 30,000 for committing sodomy.
The court convicted the man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and with a fine of Rs 15,000 for sodomy and to 12 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 15,000 for being the charged under section 6 of the Pocso Act. The accused has to undergo one more year term in jail if he failed to pay the fine. The term which the accused had passed in jail during the trial would be adjusted in the sentence, the court stated in its order. A sum of Rs 20,000 be given to the victim as damages. A copy of this order be sent to the district magistrate Kanpur Nagar and the District Legal Service Authority for providing damages to the victim, the court observed in its order.
According to ADGC Sushil Kumar Verma, the victim’s had stated in in her complaint that on February 20, 2014 around 12 pm while her minor son was alone in the house, one Sonu Yadav enticed him, took him to a lonely place and committed an unnatural offence with him after which blood oozed out from his anus.
The victim too had confirmed in the court the act committed by the accused.
