Lucknow: 35 kids among 55 taken ill after consuming food at birthday party

LUCKNOW: As many as 55 people complained of diarrhoea in Gaura village of Mohanlalganj in Lucknow on Tuesday reportedly after consuming contaminated food at a birthday party on Monday.
Health department officials said: “The outbreak started when people feasted on stale ‘Chola Chawal’ that was allegedly kept in the open.”
Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Agrawal said: “The condition of the patients admitted in hospital is stable. We have also deployed team of doctors from Gosaiganj CHC to Mohanlalganj. Besides, instructions have been given to reserve 10 beds each in SPM Civil and Balrampur Hospitals in case patients need to be referred.”
The CMO said mobile teams have also been deployed in the area to monitor the health of the residents. Besides, chlorine tablets and ORS packets were distributed among residents.
