Varanasi: UP Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is realising the dreams of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel to build a strong and powerful India.
After leading the ‘Run for Unity’ event, which started from Sampurnanand Sports Stadium and culminated at Sardar Patel’s statue at Maldahiya crossing to mark the celebration of Patel’s birth anniversary as National Unity Day on Monday, Singh said, “Sardar Patel is known for his sacrifices, team work and strong determination. He sacrificed the position of PM and accepted role of home minister as his team wanted him in such role.”
Sardar Patel got only three years after independence to serve the nation and only in such a limited time he tried his best to unite the country, said Singh, adding, Patel also wanted to see the Kashmir issue getting solved. His dream of was fulfilled by Modiji who abolished Article 370 and 35A.
Singh also highlighted how PM Narendra Modi is fulfilling other dreams of Patel including strengthening economy of farm sector and farmers and making country self-dependent in all sectors. Apart from other UP ministers- Ravinda Jaiswal and Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, Bhartiya Janata Party Kashi region unit chief Mahesh Chand Srivastava and officials of different forces and organisation youths from 121 village panchayats also took part in the event.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) also celebrated the day. Registrar Arun Kumar Singh administered the National Unity Day pledge to the officers and staff of varsity .
Another run for unity was organised by NSS-BHU.
