Genome sequencing unit in Kota opened
Kota: Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi M P Om Birla inaugurated the genome sequencing unit worth Rs 3 crore at the microbiology department of Kota Medical College on Sunday. Now, accurate information on various critical viruses and their mutations will be available locally. Patients from four districts of the division as well as adjoining districts in Madhya Pradesh will be able to avail the facility. The aim is to make medical and health institutions in the state self-reliant and to equip the medical college with latest technology and after the set up of this lab in Kota Medical College, viruses like Ebola, Nipah will also be identified soon locally, said Birla.
