School, college to get buildings worth ₹13 crore
Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for higher education R Bindu will inaugurate the new buildings of Government Technical High School (GTHS), Nedumangad, and Government Polytechnic College, Nedumangad, on Monday. The buildings were constructed at a cost of Rs 13.12 crore.
The new building at GTHS has six classrooms spreading over 2,623 sq m, four practical classrooms, engineering drawing hall, computer CAD lab, superintendent room, three staff rooms, main office of the superintendent, reception room, changing room for students, mini-seminar hall, spacious interior, lobby, store room, staircases and lift.
The building also has a clean water storage system and toilet facilities.
The building at polytechnic college has been built at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore. A separate building for practical sessions has also been constructed at Rs 62 lakh.
As many as 120 students who have passed the Class VII examination can get admission to this institution through an entrance examination every year. It offers courses in six specialist trades and the school is equipped with 70 computers, IT lab with multimedia facility. Minister for food and civil supplies G R Anil, MPs Adoor Prakash, A A Rahim will be present at the inauguration ceremony.
