AHMEDABAD: A man attacked his wife's male friend and when the friend's brother attempted a rescue, the attacker kidnapped the brother. The man who was kidnapped has been identified as Ishwar Adiwal, the brother of Ravi.
According to an FIR filed with Paldi police on Saturday, Ravi, 23, was talking to Nita Dantani, 28, on that day when he was attacked by Nita's husband, Vikram, 29. Vikram's accomplice Mohammad Shejad, 20, also started beating Ravi. That is when Ishwar intervened and was kidnapped. Later, Rs 1 lakh ransom was demanded for Ishwar's release.
Based on Ravi's complaint, Paldi police on Saturday itself arrested Vikram, Shejad and even Nita under IPC sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
The three were found using mobile surveillance and were produced in court on Sunday. Investigating officer R R Shukla said that Vikram had been lodged in jail in Bhuj and Nita visited Vikram regularly. During one of her journeys, she met Ravi. After being released, Vikram was enraged by the interactions between Nita and Ravi.
Shukla said that Vikram told Nita to call Ravi for a meeting on Saturday. Vikram's plan was to attack Ravi, with Shejad's help.
As circumstances unfolded, Ishwar was kidnapped and assaulted. Ishwar received severe injuries. Ravi stated in the complaint that he lives in Gandhidham and often comes to Ahmedabad to visit his relatives. Six months ago, while returning to Gandhidham, he met Nita for the first time and the two exchanged numbers. A month later, he came to Ahmedabad and met Nita.
Ravi said that recently he had become engaged to some other woman. He said he had dropped his aunt and grandmother in Ahmedabad for Diwali and had stayed at Ishwar's house in Meghaninagar. Ravi said that while he was at Ishwar's house, he received a call from Nita who told him to meet her at Paldi Crossroads.
When Ravi was talking to Nita, Vikram and Shejad attacked him. Ravi said he was accompanied by Ishwar and their cousin Sumit. Ishwar tried to save Ravi but was kidnapped.
The three then called Ravi and asked for Rs 1 lakh through an online payment platform. Ravi approached Paldi police.
