Jaipur: Two sisters were injured when they were pushed off their scooter in Gopalpura by unidentified bike-borne snatchers to loot a gold chain.
The incident took place on October 21 when Kajal (21) was travelling with her two sisters, 15 and 13 years old, to purchase shoes. The FIR was filed at the Bajaj Nagar police station on Saturday. The accused first tried to grab the chain from the girls, but the sisters accelerated to outrun the accused. But the two rammed their bike into the scooter and the girls fell on the road. The accused fled after robbing a chain.
Their father
Vikram Singh said that Kajal, who is preparing for the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) exam, has injuries on her leg and the doctors have advised rest. His 15-year-old daughter sustained injuries on her hands, while the youngest one had only scratches.
Police said that they were trying to ascertain the identity of the two accused by checking the CCTVs in the area.
This is the second incident in the city in a month when snatchers have brazenly attacked people to snatch their chains and purses.
On October 4, in a similar incident in the Muhana area, a 43-year-old woman was pushed off a scooter by snatchers.
The accused fled after snatching her purse. The woman was severely injured and had to be admitted to a hospital.
The violent snatchings have created panic among residents. Though the Jaipur police routinely claim to have cracked down on such gangs, such incidents have repeated and culprits have struck at will.
