20 booked for filming assault victim
Kanpur: Police on Friday lodged an FIR against around 20 unknown people under the relevant IPC sections, POCSO Act and IT Act for allegedly filming and making viral videos of a 13-year-old victim of assault in Kannauj district on October 23. To recall, the girl, on October 23 was spotted lying injured and bleeding on the premises of a government guest house in the Tirwa area of the district while a group of men stood around filming instead of helping her.
The unknown people have been booked under sections 228 A, 354 (C), 505 (2) and 66E (IT act 2008) after a complaint was lodged by police out-post in-charge Manoj Kumar Pandey against them at Gursahaiganj police station in Kannauj on Friday.
Raj Kumar Singh, in-charge Gursahaiganj Kotwali police station said, “On October 23 a minor girl was found lying in the bushes with grievous wounds at a government guest house, while around 15 to 20 unknown persons released photographs and videos related to the incident to the media that revealed the minor victim’s identity. As the investigation was in progress, they were interfering in the administration of justice and character assassination of the victim.”
So far, four of the accused who aided the main accused have been arrested, he said.
