BJP to axe chiefs of 7 dists for non-performance
Jaipur: The state BJP is set to remove some office-bearers, including the presidents of at least seven to eight district units, because of their alleged non-performance and indiscipline. The party’s central leaders have approved the step, which would be carried out in November, said sources.
“These districts include Sawai Madhopur, Baran, Alwar, Jodhpur, Jhalawar, Dholpur and Dausa, etc. The decision was taken after a two-member team of party observers was sent to these districts and it was found that the accusations against these leaders are true,” said a senior BJP leader.
These BJP district unit chiefs were found to be non-compliant with the party’s programmes and were not attending protests and demonstrations organised by the party, said sources. They displayed a lack of interest in BJP’s campaigns like panna pramukh, booth-level programmes and membership drives, they added.
“They were asked to improve their performance several times, but it all fell on deaf ears. The party followed its due process by reminding them of their duties first, collecting evidence against them, and investigating the charges. The party has zero tolerance for indiscipline. In the election year, it is not at all tolerable,” said a BJP leader.
With BJP routinely evaluating its leaders, these district leaders were under the scanner for a year. Many of them were also summoned to Jaipur and reminded of their shortcomings. “After the reminders, some district unit chiefs started working better,” said the BJP leader.
