Kolkata records 1,201 dengue cases in 8 days till October 27
Struggling to prevent dengue infection in large stretches off EM Bypass, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has planned a special drive to contain the rising graph in at least three wards that show no signs of relent.The civic health department bosses are particularly worried about the quantum jump of dengue cases in areas like Kasba, Haltu, Santoshpur, Mukundapur, Panchasayar and Patuli. Of these areas, Kasba, Haltu and Santoshpur—that fall under wards 106 and 107 —had emerged as the major hot spots in the southeastern parts of the city last week. Out of 1,201 cases that the city’s seven dengue-prone wards have recorded during October 21 and October 27, 386 cases have come from ward 106.
