Speeding vehicle runs over minor boy

Jaipur: A 15-year-old boy died after a speeding vehicle ran over him on Gokulpura Road in Kardhani on Saturday morning. Assistant sub-inspector of accident police station (West) Raghu Nandan said that the victim was identified as Ishwar Singh, a resident of Karni Uma Nagar near Gokulpura. “The deceased was a student of class 8. He left his house at 9.30 am and was walking through the main road on Gokulpura when a vehicle hit him from behind,” he said. Police said that pedestrians saw the incident and alerted the police control room about the mishap. An ambulance was summoned to the spot that transported him to the hospital where he died during the treatment. Police suspect that the driver was speeding. “Efforts are underway to identify the vehicle. We are scanning CCTVs to track down the driver,” said an official. According to police, the driver had fled from the scene after the accident. A case of reckless driving under the motor vehicle act will be registered. Police said that they sent a team immediately after the case was reported to them.
