Rajkot: Woman hacked to death for rebuking husband over income

RAJKOT: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband for trying to persuade him to find permanent work to tide over the financial crunch their family was facing.
The incident happened in Rajkot’s Thorala area where the victim Jahida alias Yasmin who was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by her husband Ishufsha alias Yusufsha Shahmadar on Friday.
Yusufsha was working as a casual labourer but he used to frequently skip work, which badly affected the family’s income. On Friday, Jahida rebuked him for this attitude and persuaded him to earn sufficient money.
Yusuf flew into a fit of rage and started attacking her. She received grievous injuries in the head and neck and died in a hospital.
A complaint was lodged by the deceased’s mother who told police that Jahida’s father-in-law had called her saying that there was a bitter fight between the husband-wife duo and that she was taken to the hospital.
Investigation revealed that Yusuf had attacked her with an axe in 2016 too, suspecting that she had an extra-marital affair. She had left him and started living with her parents. However, the couple struck a compromise in 2019 and she returned to stay with him.
