Comprehensive win for the blackcaps. New Zealand pinned down Sri Lanka and never let them get up. Sri Lanka never looked in the game right from their bowling innings when they had NZL 25/3 in the first six.
Trent Boult had a brilliant outing and picked up four wickets. He destroyed the Sri Lankan batting with the new ball and came back at the death to pick another one.
Five overs to Sri Lanka needed 86 from 30 balls to win. It is highly unlikely but not impossible.
SL batting just didn't turn up today. They never looked in the game in the second innings. They had a brief partnership between Bhanuka and Shanaka that's that.
At the halfway mark, Sri Lanka is 58/6. Bhanuka is the top scorer of the innings with 34. He looked good but he is gone now.
The innings are following the pattern of the first innings a few early wickets and then a partnership. Bhanuka and Skipper Shanaka are trying to steady the ship a little at the moment.
Sri Lanka needs 144 from 84 balls. They have lost half of their side now it is increasingly looking Kiwis' game now.

After a rocky start, New Zealand came into the game well. Glenn Phillips played an absolute blinder of an innings. this has to be one of the top innings in T20I world cup history. His team was in trouble when he came in he started slowly but kept accelerating as innings went on. He along with Daryl Mitchell build a decent partnership in the middle which enabled them to post a decent total. Sri Lanka on the other hand after starting well dropped a few catches in the middle and gave away easy boundaries and bowled unnecessary no-balls. This is a decent total on the board let us see what Sri Lankans can do.
Brilliant innings by Glenn Phillips scoring 100 out of 60 balls. This is the second 100 in the tournament after Rillie Rossouw's ton against Bangladesh at the same venue.
Glenn Phillips pummeled Mahesh Theekhsna in the 17th over. Theekshana gave away 14 runs in the over. On six over covers and the next one got even better when he clubbed one straight back over the bowler's head.
