MANGALURU: A labourer died after the compound wall of a house collapsed when the work on a drain was in progress at Urwa in the city. The deceased is identified as Erappa, a resident of Kushtagi in Koppala.
The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) had taken up the work on the drain in Urwa area. The work on a drain was in progress near a house in Urwa for the last one week.
When five labourers were at work at the site on Thursday, the wall of the house collapsed injuring Erappa severely. He was shifted to a hospital immediately but succumbed to the injuries. The police have registerted a case against the work contractor for the labourer’s death.
Youth dies in mishapA 23-year-old youth succumbed to the injuries sustained in an accident. The deceased has been identified as Gaurav from Moodushedde in the city. He had sustained injuries after the two-wheeler he was riding skidded off the road on October 25. The severely injured youth failed to respond to treatment at the hospital and died on Thursday.
