GURUGRAM: A day after a video showing a moving car bursting firecrackers in its boot space near Cyber Hub went viral on social media, police on Friday arrested three people — Nakul (26), Jatin Rao (27) and Krishan Kumar (26). The trio, police said, purchase and sell cars..
Since being shared, the video has received more than 9.6 million views and more than 90,000 likes on a social media platform.
“On Thursday, we received the video from our sources. We formed teams to probe the matter and identified the car’s number,” said Sandeep Kumar, SHO, DLF-3 police station. He further said the car’s owner, who was summoned for further inquiry, revealed that he had sold it off recently.
“In the video, the black sedan, which was moving towards DLF-3, can be seen leaving a trail of bursting crackers in the air and was being followed by another car. Later, we checked the video on social media and arrested Nakul, Jatin Rao and Krishan,” the SHO said.
Police said the idea behind bursting crackers in this way was of Jatin, who was driving the sedan.
“Jatin handed over his mobile phone to Krishan, who was tailing him in a BMW, to record the video,” an officer said.
The mobile phone on which the video was shot and the two cars have been recovered by the police.
A case under section 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 336 (whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others), and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC has been registered.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said, “No one is allowed to breach law and order and traffic rules. Teams arrested the accused within 24 hours.”
