JDA finalises plots for four satellite hospitals
Jaipur: In a bid to reduce pressure on SMS Hospital and other public hospitals in the city, officials of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has sent a proposal to the urban development ministry to set up four satellite hospitals along with bus stands on the city outskirts.
JDA had already earmarked the four plots on Agra Road, Delhi Road, Ajmer Road and on Tonk Road.
“The plots in questions will be used by the health and the transport departments. We have earmarked the plots and send the proposal to the ministry. Once the approval comes, we will hand these to the respective departments,” Anandi Lal Vaishnav, additional commissioner, JDA, told TOI.
In May, the urban development ministry took this decision at a meeting chaired by UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced this project during the foundation ceremony of IPD tower of SMS Hospital on April 5.
JDA officials, close to the development of this project, disclosed that the authority has identified land between Kanota and Bassi on Agra Road, the reserved land of the Ring Road Project in Shivdaspura on Tonk Road, a plot near Science Tech city in Achrol on Delhi Highway and a piece of land located in Balmukundpura for this project.
“All these plots are over 3,000 sqaure metre. Besides the health department, we are going to hand over a portion of these plots to the transport department. The later can use these for bus stands so that a few buses can start and terminate there,” a JDA official said.
At present, the city has a few satellite hospitals. But these hospitals would help patients from the outskirts of the capital and those leaving in the city’s last limits.
“The population is expanding. Even Greater Jaipur is expanding. So, it is very important to have a few hospitals like this on the outskirts. Besides saving time of patients and their family members, it would also reduce pressure on the city hospitals,” a JDA official added.
