Ascertain quality of work: Min tells officials
Dharwad: Achar Halappa, the minister in charge of Dharwad district, has warned officials of stern action if they fail to personally supervise work under various schemes funded by the state and central government and ensure that there is no compromise on quality.
Chairing a meeting to review the progress of work under the Karnatak Development Programmes (KDP) here on Friday, he said officials should ensure transparency in spending for development and infrastructure work and pass the bills for payment only after ascertaining that the work has been completed satifactorily. If it is found that the bills were passed without checking the quality of the work, the officer will be held responsible and action will be taken against him, the minister warned.
He also directed officials to involve the community in development work.
He said the roads in the district have been damaged and instructed officials to take up repairs on prirority.
Union minister Prahlad Joshi, present in the meeting, said Dharwad has received a lot of funds from the Centre and state and Rs 82 crore has been disbursed as crop compensation under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana in the district last year. He said the administration should respond to pleas from those who have suffered losses.
