Nagpur: Breaking his silence for the first time after his spat with Achalpur MLA Bacchu Kadu, Badnera MLA Ravi Rana said he has all the proof of the former seeking bribes to switch over sides, and he will “make it public at appropriate time”.
Speaking exclusively to TOI, Rana reiterated the serious allegations against Kadu that he had indeed sought favours in the form of a bribe to leave his minister of state’s post and join the Shiv Sena (Balasaheb) led by chief minister Eknath Shinde.
“The 40 MLAs who joined Shinde are truly loyal ones believing in ideology. Even other nine independent legislators have joined Shinde camp with good intentions, as they too follow the same ideology. But this man (Kadu) does not follow any ideology. He has been a settler since the beginning and settles everything in return for a bribe. He went to Guwahati with the group precisely for this reason,” Rana said.
Kadu did not pick repeated calls by TOI, and also did not respond to text messages for comments on Rana’s statement.
On signals by Kadu that he would leave the Shinde government with seven to eight legislators, Rana said he was doling out empty threats to exert pressure on the CM to include him in the next cabinet expansion. “He is well known for such political nautanki (gimmicks) in the past. You can see the outcome of his previous protests, where he often backtracks after receiving bribes. Not a single MLA is with him at present. The BJP-Sena government will not be affected even if he leaves. His threats are like fuska pataka (firecrackers that fail to explode),” said Rana.
Speaking on BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule’s comments that Shinde and deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis would mediate between him and Kadu to resolve their differences, Rana said he will abide by their orders, as he had not joined their camp to get a ministerial berth, but for the ideology and friendship (with Fadnavis).
Replying to Kadu’s threat of submitting proof of allegations levelled against him, the Badnera MLA said the former school education minister had lost his mental balance after being exposed. “We will not only expose him completely, but also give a befitting reply in our own style. We will not tolerate the use of degrading language and abuses hurled by him. Everyone in Amravati is aware of what he has done. If he can gather 5,000 people, over 50,000 will come out on my call. I have been in jail many times for raising voice for the farmers and for other social issues, unlike him.”
Defending his onslaught against Kadu, Rana said Kadu had started making wild allegations against him over distribution of groceries to poor people from his constituency. “He is making childish claims that I take money from others for this noble task, which I have been doing since the last 15 years. In fact, I distributed groceries in Bellora village in his constituency. I think Kadu has lost his mental balance,” he said.
