Govt identifies five sites for skywalk to boost tourism
Ranchi: In an attempt to boost tourism, the state is planning to set up skywalk on the lines of Pelling and Rajgir. Sources in the state tourism department on Thursday said they have identified five sites after conducting an initial feasibility study. The final plan may take shape by the end of this year.
Officials said the department is scouting for expert agencies/firms to conduct their own feasibility study, prepare the detailed project report, construction supervision and to oversee execution of the proposed project.
“The department plans to set up skywalk at Patratu in Ramgarh, Netarhat in Latehar and three spots in Ranchi — Hundru, Jonha and Dassam falls. All these are prominent tourist spots with a mix of leisure and adventure tourism potential with scores of tourists coming here throughout the year both from within the state and adjoining places,” an official said.
The project aims to promote and enhance participation of local communities as stakeholders in development of tourist locations, products and services through capacity building for development of the area.
State tourism director Anjali Yadav in the tender note document released a few weeks back said the proposed sites are subject to change based on the proposals which they receive from the interested parties. “The last date for submission of proposals is November 30. We have fixed a pre-bid online meeting with prospective bidders on November 2 to clear any doubts, explain the scope of work among others,” she said.
