The joint platform of 10 central trade unions (CTUs), barring RSS-affiliated Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, has urged labour minister Bhupender Yadav to scrap the four labour codes, saying they were against the interest of workers.
Besides, the CTUs have sought government intervention on the issue of raising minimum pension and holding the Indian Labour Conference, among others. These decisions were made at a meeting of the joint platform of central trade unions and independent federations and associations last month.
"The Labour Codes impose more derogatory working conditions on the workers and almost open-endedly empower the governments and employers to further curtail the labour rights," the CTUs said in a joint memorandum.
