Karnataka: Holy soil collection campaign launched
The holy soil (Pavitra Mrithike) collection campaign in connection with the unveiling of the 108-feet tall statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, in Bengaluru, commenced in Madikeri on Thursday by Kodagu in-charge minister BC Nagesh.
MYSURU/HASSAN/ MANDYA: The holy soil (Pavitra Mrithike) collection campaign in connection with the unveiling of the 108-feet tall statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, in Bengaluru, commenced in Madikeri on Thursday by Kodagu in-charge minister BC Nagesh. The holy soil collection will be carried for two days in various villages of the district.
Minister Nagesh said the holy soil collected from various places in the state would be placed in the centre of the statue. The soil from Madikeri Shri Omkareshwara, Gaddige, and historical fort in Madikeri will be carried alongside the soil from selected villages in Kodagu. MLAs Appachu Ranjan, K G Bopaiah and others were present at the campaign.
He said: “Kempegowda is a model ruler in the state and to respect, remember and to follow his way, the statue will remind all of us in future.”
Regarding education in Arabic schools, the minister said, there are 106 registered schools,80 unaided schools with 27,000 students in the state. The government wants to bring these students under the same platform in addition to their present learning, because only about 2,000 students in these schools are appearing for SSLC.
District in-charge minister K Gopalaiah has launched the holy soil (Pavitra Mrithike) collection campaign in Hassan on Thursday. The campaign was launched at Hasanamba Temple premises in the presence of public representatives and officials. A chariot will tour different parts of the district collecting soil.
Meanwhile, collection of holy soil from all gram panchayats of Mandya will start on October 29, said K Gopalaiah on Thursday. He spoke at a meeting organised at the District Collector's office.
