Ranchi: “JMM will knock on the doors of the Supreme Court to seek a review of the governor’s verdict. We will also go to the ‘Janta ki Adalat’ (court of the people) if the governor acts as a BJP ‘toolkit’ and tries to drive home the ‘nefarious intentions’ of the saffron party,” said spokesperson and Giridih MLA Sudivya Kumar Sonu.
JMM insiders claimed that the governor may have asked the EC to furnish an opinion on the provisions to bar Soren from contesting elections for a certain period based on the evidence available in the case.
JMM’s ally, the Congress party questioned the need for seeking a second opinion. “The governor must make public who he is seeking a second opinion from. Is it the EC or some advocate? And why does he not tell us what the EC’s opinion is?” state Congress president Rajesh Thakur said from New Delhi.
In a statement, the state unit of CPIM-ML said, “There is a political interest of BJP behind the governor’s move to seek a second opinion and that is why the atom bomb blast comment was made. The governor has now sought a second opinion just to blackmail the incumbent government. He is being used to create a political crisis in Jharkhand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
