SMS hosp gets 60 burn cases on Diwali
Jaipur: Celebrating Diwali with firecrackers carelessly has landed many in hospitals with burns. At least 60 persons were brought to Sawai Man Singh Hospital who suffered injuries due to bursting of crackers during Diwali. Out of those, two had suffered serious injuries and were admitted to the polytrauma ward.
An SMS Hospital administration official said, “A 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were admitted to the hospital as they had suffered serious burn injuries. The condition of the patients is stable now.”
The official said of 350 patients who were brought to the OPD and IPD on Diwali, 56 were admitted. Among those, two admissions were related to bursting of firecrackers. Besides, two were brought dead but were not related to bursting of crackers, the official said.
In other hospitals, including private, minor cases of burn injuries were reported from different parts of the city.
The SMS Hospital official said a lot of people who were brought to the hospital had suffered burn injuries in eyes. Since many of those had suffered minor injuries, they were allowed to go home after first-aid.
The hospital had deployed a team of ophthalmologists on Diwali.
