Ranchi: Police are collecting closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footages and mobile recording of the incident in which an army colonel and his son were allegedly beaten up by unidentified men at a firecrackers shop under the Gonda police station area in Ranchi on Monday.
In an FIR lodged on Monday, Eeshan Singh, the son, alleged that when he and his father M K Singh asked for goods and services tax (GST) bill on their purchase of firecrackers in the shop — Trade Friends — they were surrounded by around 15 to 20 people and beaten up. Singh added that his spectacle broke and both he and his father fell on the ground during the assault.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Munda, a staff of the shop, has lodged a separate case in connection with the incident against the father-son duo under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Munda alleged that the father and the son had abused him when he refused to give price concession on the purchased products.
Sadar DSP Prabhat Ranjan Barwar said that the police will examine the CCTV camera footage of the shop. “Both the parties have been asked to submit their mobile recording of the incident,” the official added.
The police also said that no arrest has been made in the case so far.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Alok Dubey said that a delegation of his party will meet the Ranchi SSP Kishore Kuashal on Thursday and demand action against the firecracker seller.
