Stock market update: Nifty Bank index advances 0.43%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a positive note on Thursday.

Shares of Axis Bank(up 1.36 per cent), Bandhan Bank(up 1.1 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(up 1.03 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.0 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(up 0.91 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Punjab National Bank(down 0.69 per cent) and ICICI Bank(down 0.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.43 per cent up at 41299.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 80.6 points at 17736.95, while the BSE Sensex stood up 212.88 points at 59756.84.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 36 ended in the green, while 13 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, PNB, , and were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of , Bharat Bijlee, SJVN, and Trans & Rectif hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while NMDC, , , FSN E-Comm(Nykaa)and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
