Ludhiana: This festive season, veterinaries, NGOs and animal trainers across the city have reported various cases where pets and stray animals were impacted by bursting of crackers.
Dr S S Randhawa, director of veterinary clinics at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Gadvasu) said, “We were operational 24x7 and received many cases. A 3-year-old pet was reported unconscious at the emergency room after it consumed crackers and got seizures. It had gastroenteritis and was treated for the same.”
Veterinarian Dr Jaspreet Mauj received a case where two dogs had prematurely given birth in shock, as they were affected by the loud noise of crackers. Many pets also hid under furniture upon hearing loud blasts.
