KOTA: A day after the murder of a 23-year-old man in gang rivalry in Jhalwar city in broad daylight, police arrested four accused on Tuesday and produced them before a court on Wednesday.
The four accused – Alsup (25), Chotu Joshi (23), Naresh Gurjar (38) and Sanjay Gurjar (35), all residents of Jhalawar city – were sent in five days’ police remand for interrogation.
Aarish Bag (23), a resident of Peelakhana area of Jhalawar city, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants on Forest Road under Jhalawar city police station at around 3:30pm on Monday. Bag, accompanied by Juber Sanjari, a criminal of the Aman Sanjari gang, was on his way to the market.
Jhalawar city police station circle inspector Chandrajyoti said the assailants wanted to fire at Juber Sanjari, but the bullet pierced into Bag’s neck while Sanjari escaped unhurt. Bag did not have any criminal track record, she added.
Police sources said accused Naresh Gurjar, the head of a gang operating in the district, is the mastermind of the murder. Initial investigations have found that he had a rivalry with Juber of Aman Sanjari gang as Juber had earlier attacked one of the members of the Gurjar gang. Gurjar had allegedly assigned the task to two of his henchmen, Aslup and Chotu Joshi.
