HYDERABAD: In a bid to give the party's campaign in Munugode a push before the D-Day on November 3, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will address a public meeting near Chandur on October 30, two days before the campaigning ends on November 1.
The event to be held on an area spread over 30 acres between Chandur and Bangaru Gadda would also be KCR's first public meeting since he launched his national plan by renaming TRS as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on October 5. KCR is expected to drill home the message that a thumping victory in Munugode constituency would set the stage for BRS to go ballistic against the BJP at the national level.
It was on August 20 that KCR had last held a public meeting in the constituency. He had not announced any sops then, but only promised Munugode that he would return before the bypoll. Now, there is an air of expectation in the constituency which is hoping that there would be a promise of welfare sops and projects to be showered on them after the bypoll.
TRC MLC T Ravinder Rao told TOI that men, women and youngsters will take out padayatras from villages to Chandur to listen to KCR on October 30.
Though the chief minister's office (CMO) did not confirm the public meeting date, Ravinder Rao, who is one of key leaders making arrangements for the public meeting, said that it would be held on Sunday.
"Whether the CM will come by road in a huge convoy to the constituency or fly down is still to be finalised. On our part, we are putting in place a helipad in case the CM wants to either fly in or fly out," Ravinder Rao said.
TRS leaders did not rule out the possibility of CM coming by road and going back by chopper to Begumpet airport.
The campaigning is expected to reach a crescendo as KCR's meeting on Sunday would be followed by BJP's public meeting on October 31 to be addressed by national president of the saffron party, Jagat Prakash Nadda.
