THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A day after governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that some dose of ‘pippadi vidya’ (coercive methods) was needed to deal with those who practice ‘cheppadi vidya’ (gimmicks), chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has repeated his oblique swipe at Khan that nobody should come with ‘pippidi vidya’ to hinder the government’s efforts to improve the standard of higher education sector in the state.
Delivering a speech at the education seminar here on Tuesday, Vijayan said some forces were trying to impede the development of the higher education sector. “Those who try to derail the positive efforts should not imagine that the government would drop such efforts for fear of the forces with vested interest,” he said.
During an interaction with media at Raj Bhavan on Monday, Khan passed the belated reply to the chief minister. ‘pippidi vidya’ is a colloquial term used in Kannur for coercion. tnn
