HYDERABAD: Upset with his teenage daughter for moving closely with young men in the village, a farmer hacked her to death at their house in Wanaparthy district on Tuesday morning.
The 15-year-old victim was second of the three children of the 37-year-old farmer from the village in Pebbair mandal. The girl was studying in class 10 in Pebbair.
Police said that the children had gone with their mother to her house on the occasion of Diwali and while she stayed back, the children had later returned.
On Tuesday morning, the eldest girl went to her college, the youngest to his boarding school and the 15-year-old stayed home as her school was yet to open.
At around 10 am, while reprimanding the girl for talking to young men from the village despite his advice not to do so, the father lost his cool and hacked her to death with an axe kept nearby, the police said.
The girl died on the spot with severe bleeding injuries, Wanaparthy SP K Apoorva Rao said.
Police arrived at the scene after being informed by villagers and arrested the father.
SP Rao said that after a preliminary probe they concluded it was not a case of honour killing and the accused had acted in a fit of rage as his teenage daughter was not listening to his advise.
Later, police sent the girl's bodyfor post-mortem. A murder case was registered against the father under Indian Penal Code section 302.
