Stock market update: Nifty Bank index falls 0.44%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Bank index closed on a negative note on Tuesday.

Shares of Punjab National Bank(up 5.35 per cent), Bank of Baroda(up 2.7 per cent) and State Bank of India(up 1.41 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, IDFCBANK(down 3.25 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.6 per cent), AU Small Finance Bank(down 1.0 per cent), IndusInd Bank(down 0.73 per cent) and Axis Bank(down 0.73 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Bank index closed 0.44 per cent down at 41122.75.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 74.4 points at 17656.35, while the BSE Sensex stood down 287.7 points at 59543.96.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 ended in the green, while 29 closed in the red.

Shares of PNB, BHEL, Zomato Ltd., and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Varanium Cloud Ltd., , , Tips . and Maks Energy Solutions India Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , , Vikas Proppant & Gr, Ltd. and hit their fresh 52-week lows.
