The partial solar eclipse is being observed in several parts of the country with Srinagar witnessing the maximum obscuration of the solar disc at 55 per cent. The first contact, where in the moon begins to cover the solar disc, happened at 4:29 pm in Delhi, where the moon was expected to cover 43 per cent of the solar disc.

In view of the partial solar eclipse, the doors of the temples will remain closed on Tuesday. The Sutak period started at 4:20 am in the morning and due to this, the temples were closed. It is believed that in such a situation, the ritualistic programs of worship are stopped. Meanwhile, the devotees were seen chanting and penancing at the banks of the Sangam.
It will be the 16th partial solar eclipse of the century, and the second of this year.
As per Drik Panchang, the start time of eclipse is 04:28 pm and the end time is 5:42 pm whereas maximum eclipse time will be at 5:30 pm. Read more
