
Mumbai News Live Updates: The BMC has planned an extensive beautification project for Dadar and Mahim, including the shoreline between Dadar and Mahim beach, Shivaji Park, Portugese Church Junction and Dadar station. The BMC has proposed having a multimedia light show along the Mahim and Dadar beaches and a digital aquarium inside the park opposite Chaityabhumi. This will provide tourists an experience of walking underground though a tunnel, with water and marine life overhead.
In other news, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday that the much-awaited second expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet would take place soon and the final dates would be worked out in consultation with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

As many as 20 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in Maharashtra's Thane district, taking the infection tally to 7,46,464, a health official said on Wednesday.

As many as 85 fire incidents were reported in Mumbai during the first three days of Diwali celebrations, of which 37, or nearly 44 per cent, were caused by crackers, said the Fire Brigade. However, no casualties were reported in these incidents.
A top Fire Brigade official told PTI that of the 85 fire calls received in the last three days, the maximum 41 were on October 24 (the main day of Diwali festival), followed by 27 on October 23 and 17 on October 22.
Indian Police Service officer Rashmi Shukla, accused of phone tapping by the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government, is likely to be empaneled in the rank of Director General of police (DGP), an official said. The empanelment will pave the way for her return to Maharashtra, he said.
Shukla, a Maharashtra-cadre officer of the 1988-batch, is currently on central deputation as an Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Hyderabad.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out an inspection of mosquito breeding spots in Bandra on Sunday. The inspection drive included actor Salman Khan's residence Galaxy Appartments.
Civic officials action came a day after it was reported that Khan was infected with dengue. “Following the inspection, a fumigation drive was also carried out,” said Rajan Naringrekar, insecticide officer from BMC.

In the wake of Diwali celebrations, air and noise pollution levels deteriorated in several areas of Mumbai. The Air Quality Index (AQI) readings obtained from the System of Air Quality Forecast and Research (SAFAR) stated that Mumbai’s AQI value Tuesday was 305 (‘Very Poor’ category).
Data also showed that the primary constituents were PM2.5 components, which are air particulate matters that have a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers. The PM2.5 components comprise burn residues and dust particles mainly emitted from firecrackers. Read more

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP said Tuesday the much-awaited second expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet would take place soon and the final dates would be worked out in consultation with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said a sizeable number of new inductees would be ministers of state (MoS).
Earlier today, CM Eknath Shinde had said in Nagpur that the Cabinet expansion will be conducted at an appropriate time.
In the past one year, more than 10 animal attack incidents have been reported from the residential areas adjoining Aarey and Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Last year, a sub-adult female leopard was caught by forest officials after it had attacked seven persons over a period of two months. The forest officials had set up four cages inside the forest area to catch the leopard.

After the roaring hit of ‘Restaurant on Wheels’ at Mumbai and Nagpur railway stations, the Central Railway (CR) has appointed bidders to start similar facilities at four new locations – Akurdi, Chinchwad, Miraj and Baramati stations.
The Central Railway has also identified seven other locations to set up similar projects in the coming days – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Kalyan, Lonavala, Neral, Igatpuri, Dadar and Matheran.

In a unique experiment, the Osmanabad (Dharashiv) district in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region has over the last one year reconstructed around 965 kms of boundary roads by removing encroachments and giving direct access of the main road to inland farmers.
Encroachment on the boundary roads or approach roads passing through farmland has always been one of the primary reasons for disputes in rural parts.

As part of the ambitious Mumbai Beautification Plan, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is set to beautify the entire Juhu beach and its adjoining precinct by spending Rs 4 crore. As part of the BMC’s proposal, the civic body will be illuminating the entire beach precinct. It will also set up art installations and murals on the adjoining walls of the beach. Read more
