AHMEDABAD: A cloth trader from Naranpura, who runs his business from New Cloth Market in Raipur, has filed a complaint with Kagdapith police stating that a Mumbai-based cloth trader, the trader’s wife, and a middleman have cheated him and seven others of Rs 2 crore by obtaining fabric from them but not paying. Paritosh Parikh, 44, said in his FIR filed on Saturday that one of the accused, Arvind Soni, a resident of Kalbadevi in Mumbai, came in contact with him in 2019 and helped him meet several cloth traders of Mumbai.
Soni had in 2019 introduced Parikh to Hitesh Patel and his wife and business partner Kailash Patel, from Jogeshwari East. Parikh said Soni told him that Hitesh was reliable and that Parikh should do business with him.
Parikh said that as he trusted Soni, he started sending material to Hitesh whenever he asked for it. Initially, Hitesh paid the money but later the payments became irregular. Parikh said that he had provided stocks of cloth between August 2021 and September 2022 for which Hitesh did not pay Rs 27 lakh. When he demanded the money from Hitesh and Kailash, they allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.
