Anointment day: Heggade will be honoured

Mangaluru: Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala will celebrate the 55th Vardhanthyutsava of D Veerendra Heggade being anointed as the Dharmadikari of the kshetra on Monday. The celebrations will start with special prayers at Bhagwan Sri Chandranatha Swamy Basadi and Dharmasthala temple. After which, he will be felicitated by temple workers, locals, devotees and others.
Later, a felicitation programme is organised. Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, speaker of the state Legislative Assembly, will preside over the function. On the occasion, senior employees, and students excelling in various examinations will be felicitated. This will be followed by a cultural programme. Heggade, at the age of 20, was anointed as the Dharmadhikari and transformed into reality the vision nurtured by his father- a dream of a modern Dharmasthala. The traditional role of a Dharmadhikari involved the Chaturdanas, or four charities: Annadana, Abhayadana, Aushadhadana and Vidyadana. tnn
