Govt gears up to observe Dhauli’s golden jubilee

Bhubaneswar: Preparations are on in full swing for the golden jubilee celebration of Dhauli peace pagoda on October 27 and 28. A team comprising science and technology minister Ashok Chandra Panda, chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and additional chief secretary of culture department, Madhusudan Padhi, on Sunday visited the peace pagoda on Sunday and looked into the progress of conservation and renovation work being undertaken by state government agencies ahead of the celebration.
Major work included examination of the structural stability of the pagoda, structural grouting, micro-concreting, marvel flooring, marvelling of the steps leading to the stupa, widening and flooring of the front platform, paving the pathway on both sides of the stupa and other work. Most of the work are over and some are at the finishing stage, an official source said.
