Cratered roads a concern here; work after Diwali, says Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority
Pothole-riddled roads of Delta 2 have resulted in several accidents in the past, say residents
GREATER NOIDA: Over 4,000 residents of Sector Delta 2 in Greater Noida are per - turbed by the poor condi - tion of roads that are filled with several potholes. Driving on these roads is nothing short of a roller - coaster ride for both vehi - cles and commuters.
“The Greater Noida Au - thority’s big claim that the roads inside the city and sec - tors are pothole-free, is a sham. The ground situation is completely opposite. Pot - holes are found everywhere in the sector due to which minor accidents occur every other day. The condition of roads is getting worse than village roads and against the claims of a hi-tech city as claimed by GNIDA,” said Alok Nagar, the RWA gen - eral secretary of Sector Delta 2.
Apart from this, nearly 500 vacant plots in the sector are full of overgrown shrubs, grass and trees which have become a den for snakes, in - sects and stray animals. “Several times, snakes and other animals come out on the sector roads, scaring residents and posing a threat to their safety,” added Nagar. Earlier this year, the residents complained about the issue to the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) who assured of action. How - ever, till now the plots have not been cleared. Further, residents com - plained that unpruned trees in the sector parks and on the roads have resulted in low visibility at night as the streetlights are often cov - ered with their branches.
“Besides, the branches of these trees are also en - tangled with the power ca - bles thus resulting in power cuts. It can also pose a risk of an accident,” stated the general secretary. Residents have urged the GNIDA to fix these issues, especially the roads in the sector, on priority failing which they will be forced to hit the streets. Meanwhile, when con - tacted GNIDA officials said that work on the issues raised by the residents will commence after the Diwali holidays are over
