State to display tableau themed on India@75 during ’23 R-Day parade
Ranchi: Jharkhand will present its tableau on India@75 theme out of the three suggested options by the Ministry of Defense in the next year’s Republic Day function in Delhi. The state IPRD department has now begun scouting for creative agencies, artists, designers, sculptors or the likes seeking out of the box proposals on the said theme latest by November 2 to be able to submit it to the Centre for final selection.
State IPRD director Rajiv Lochan Bakshi said that the proposals would be evaluated and presented on the same day for further action. “We are also asking all those who are submitting their proposal to remain present on that day,” he said.
The Centre gave states three theme options for 2023 R-Day parade. The themes were India @75—freedom struggle/ideas@75/achievement @75/actions@75 & resolve @75; 2023: International year of miles & Nari Shakti.
“The government chose to go with the first option — India @75 — but the tableau should be in the context of Jharkhand. Hence, we are asking all those bidding with their proposal to keep their designs keeping the state in mind,” he said.
Notably, Jharkhand showcased its tableau during R-Day parade only four times so far. In 2015, it shot into limelight after its tableau based on historic terracotta temples in Maluti in Dumka district bagged the second prize. In 2013, it showcased its flagship Dokra art themed tableau and had themed its showcase on Birsa Munda when it debuted at R-Day parade in 2004.
While it couldn’t send any proposals to the Centre in 2021, the one sent in 2022 got rejected. It was on Santhal Hul, said sources.
