
John Shaw, husband of Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, died Monday. He was 65.
He had served as vice chairman of the company and had stepped down last year citing health concerns. His cremation was held at the Wilson Garden crematorium in Bengaluru Monday evening.
John Shaw had served as a foreign promoter of the company and was a member of the board of directors of Biocon since 1999. He was born in 1949 and was a postgraduate from Glasgow University.
The Scottish national married Kiran Mazumdar in 1998. He was undergoing treatment for cancer for the past several months.
Mohandas Pai, chairman of Manipal Global Education, and Dr CN Ashwathnarayan, minister of IT, BT and Science and Technology, were among those who condoled his demise.
